Windows 10 Sound Distorted: How to Fix It in 6 Easy Steps

Your computer's multimedia experience loses a dimension when distortion overtakes your sound and makes audio content unbearable to listen to. When noise affects all of your computer's audio output, you have to review each of the elements through which your sound passes in order to pinpoint and address the offending sector.

Windows 10 Sound Distorted

Misaligned audio contacts can introduce distortion and feedback into speakers and headphones. Make certain your speaker jack is securely inserted into your computer's "Speaker/Headphone" port. If the distortion persists, try switching out your headphones or speakers to determine whether or not they are the cause of the sound distortion. Shorts from worn cables can produce static and feedback in your speakers. Excessive power can cause the delicate vibrating diaphragm in your speakers to blow out.

An out-of-date or corrupt audio driver can cause latency issues in your computer's audio playback, causing sounds to skip and lag. Visit your sound card manufacturer's support site to locate an update or a fix for known playback issues, or use the Windows Update utility to check for an updated version of your sound card's driver. Move your cursor to the bottom right corner of your display to launch the Windows Charms menu, and then click on the "Settings" charm. Select the charm's "Control Panel" option and then click on the "Windows Update" icon in the Control Panel.

A microphone actively receiving input can cause a feedback loop when it picks up on sounds played from your speakers and your computer sends the microphone's input back out through your speakers. You'll need to create more distance between the microphone and speakers, turn down the speakers, decrease the microphone's sensitivity or disconnect the microphone. Right-click on the "Speakers" icon in your task bar, and then select the "Recording Devices" option from its context menu. Click on your recording device in the Sound menu and then click on its "Properties" button. Use the slider under the "Levels" tab to adjust your microphone's volume or check the option to disable its boost. Use the "Enhancement" tab's "Enable Noise Suppression" or "Enable Acoustic Echo Cancellation" option to alleviate the feedback.

I was getting distorted sound on my GX, UX2, and UX8 that so many others have described in this forum using Win 10 and a Cherry Trail tablet. It would seem to play at the wrong sample rate and sounded like some bad 8-bit Atari video game noise. This may apply to those with a Surface tablet too.

So I'm dealing with this issue right now. I just upgraded to Windows 11 5 days ago and before that, everything worked fine on my end. Now, audacity records slowly (i.e 1 second in audacity takes 4-5 seconds in real life), and the audio comes out extremely distorted, and as you described, like Atari levels of pixellation, as well as high pitched.

I play Counter Strike Global Offensive and I use teamspeak to audio chat with my team. I've been using windows 10 since its release. Never had any audio problems of such kind with my PC. I don't know what to do.

If so, try installing your old driver, and after that go to PCEE4 folder, DS1, or just look for any folder containing one or two msi file that says DolbyDigitalPlus. Install it, go to control panel -> Hardware and sound -> Dolby Digital Plus, click the power button icon to turn it on, then off. That might be able to fix the sound problem.

Summary: If you are hearing crackling or other distorted sounds in your laptop or PC, then read this post further. It guides you on various methods to fix laptop speakers crackling in Windows PC. The post also suggests a video repair software, if the problem is limited to only a few or a specific video file.

Recently Lucas built his dream system, a gaming desktop, spending over $2,000! But all his efforts seemed futile when his Windows PC started producing crackling sound while playing any video or game. The problem was driving him crazy. He tried different video and sound cards, updated drivers but to no avail. The PC speakers continued to produce crackling sound in videos.

However, the distorted sound is not just because of hardware connections. Wrong audio settings, outdated drivers, operating system glitches, or even Windows clashing with third-party applications can result in the crackling sound in laptops or PC.

By changing the audio format of your PC, you are actually changing the sound quality in terms of sample rate and bit depth. This method can fix the crackling or distorted sound that comes when you play any video on your Windows PC.

Recall if you are experiencing the crackling sound in your Windows PC after installing a new software on your system. Sometimes, third-party programs like anti-virus or games conflict with the built-in software of your Windows computer. This usually occurs if you have not downloaded them from a secure and trusted website.

I have Ubuntu GNOME 17.04 installed along side Windows 10 on my HP Pavilion 15 AU113TX laptop. Sometimes when I switch to Ubuntu from Windows, I get distorted audio from left earphone while listening to anything.

The Windows 10 Creator builds (1703 and 1709) have seen widespread reports of noisy, choppy, distorted, or tinny audio playback that appears randomly. Serato and Rane have received limited reports of this behavior with our products, but in every case, a Windows 10 creator build is at the center.

We urge every user experiencing distorted, noisy, or choppy audio through their Rane DJ mixer or interface to send their system information to our support team. Go to our Rane Contact page and submit a Technical Support request with the following information:

If you've updated already, only to discover that your gear is not performing correctly, your audio output is distorted or noisy, etc. it is possible to roll back to the previous Windows 10 build. This would allow you to continue working, while Microsoft works on correcting the behavior of the operating system.

Now I want to use the guest system Win XP on another Win 10 host. VM 4.0 can not be installed there. That's why I downloaded and installed VM 15.5. However, the guest system Win XP only works with heavily distorted sound reproduction.

Note: I just discovered the fix is not a permanent one. If the distorted audio drives you as crazy as me, you'll have to start Windows Media Player in your virtual machine and set it to now playing and then minimize Each and Every Time you fire your XP or 7 virtual machine up!

Sound distorted on Windows 10/11 versionLog InResolved ExportnullXMLWordPrintableDetails Type: Bug Resolution: Duplicate Fix Version/s: None Affects Version/s: 1.17.41 Hotfix Labels: None Confirmation Status: Unconfirmed Platform: Windows Description I'm playing it on Xbox game pass for PC, every time I launch it, all sounds are distorted, I reinstalled it and I had the same issue, I'm using Windows sound enhancer and Razer's 7.1 sound, I already tried turning them off.

Audio enhancements, like surround sound and equalizers, can cause distortions because they alter how loud the audio is and the intensity of the frequencies. Because of this, they may not work the same with all platforms and headphone speakers.

I have been unsuccessful in trying to find a solution to my problem. I am running Windows 10 via bootcamp on a Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2012 and I cannot get the bluetooth audio to work properly. The 3.5mm headphone jack works just fine no problem. I am able to pair bluetooth devices just fine as well. When I try to use a bluetooth speaker or headphones the signal does pass through but the audio quality is terrible. The audio cuts on and off constantly and is very distorted. I cannot find any drivers to fix this or know what to do at this point since information on the internet is non existent. Maybe I just don't know how to search. 2ff7e9595c
